Yinka Ilori Happy Street & Yinka Adapt

In 2018 we were commissioned to create a run of cladding panels that featured Yinka Ilori’s artwork for the underpass of Thessaly Road Bridge in Nine Elms as part of the Happy Street project.
A.J Wells surveyed, manufactured, and installed a vitreous enamel cladding panel system for the project. Vitreous enamel was specified for its durability and fire rating, and due to its location and accessibility to the public. This original large-scale new artwork was commissioned by Wandsworth Council in partnership with the London Festival of Architecture exploring the theme of happiness through the use of colour.
This successful collaboration led to Vlaze being invited to create a limited edition Vlaze Adapt 120c unit for part of Yinka Ilori’s brand new range of homeware. The vibrant Vlaze Adapt cabinet features a spirited clash of coloured panels topped with a bold, bright print that Ilori originally created for a project for London City Airport. Multidisciplinary artist Yinka Ilori draws inspiration for this richly vibrant collection from his British and Nigerian heritage which brings a welcome of injection of colour and brightness.
